SCHOOL PROJECT

Most Myanmar people in our area are here because they need work. Most families have parents and older children working hard jobs with long hours. Many of their younger children cannot go to school in Thailand even if they are here legally because they are too far behind and cannot keep up. There are no programs for them like in American schools; they just get left far behind. They are also not treated very well by the children in the school if they can go. Some children spend much of their day playing and trying to stay out of trouble as best as they can. Their future is likely to be like their parents, hard work and low pay. God has allowed us to connect with a local Myanmar community, and we have started a small school. For us, this is the best way to show love and interact with the Myanmar people so we can share the Gospel. We have regular Bible lessons with them, and we also teach Math, and how to read and write in Burmese. We have two part-time teacher, Chai and Aung Kyaw Htwe who teach in their native language, and several of us cover the English class. Our classes are limited at this point due to space limitations as well as the need for more teachers, and the ability to support our teachers financially, but we desire to expand as the Lord provides. We started with about 20 children and now average around 35 children in our classes.
